A concrete paving slab provides a visible record of pedestrian traffic, through two layers of concrete engineered so that its appearance and texture change in a controlled manner in response to wear. Every pedestrian becomes a participant, inscribing the history of a spaces use, in a form that is instantly and intuitively legible. In collaboration with Francesca Maffei and Alaistair Steele.
